WHAT IS GDPR?
The new General Data Protection Regulation or GDPR came into full effect on May 25th 2018 and affects how all businesses manage personal information.
It also grants the people you hold information on, the ability to request their information be deleted from your databases, and enforces companies to prove a person has opted-in for marketing communications.
The impact for B2C marketing is huge, because you are not allowed to mass market to your existing data to ask them to opt in. You risk being fined by the ICO which they started doing before GDPR came in. Learn more about The Information Commissioners Office and the work they do to uphold GDPR.
Legislation around B2B marketing also brings new challenges, as well as attention on the security processes a business has in place to allow identification of data breaches and hacking, which will count highly towards becoming GDPR compliant.
We would like to reassure all clients that we are continually monitoring and ensuring our GDPR compliance and have passed and follow The Cyber Essentials certification.
